UTFS Speed trail
Trail running from Ebermannstadt, through the Wiesent Valley, to Muggendorf.
Even at the premiere of the UTFS in 2022, there was a great demand for a second, shorter route. After several course inspections and in conjunction with the UTFS Community Runs, we discovered two attractive trails along the eastern and western parts of the river which totaled under 42km. To make the 33km speed trail, which has already been run twice, even more attractive, the route – unlike the Ultratrail – leads onto the trail after just a few hundred meters and thus onto a long and steep uphill .
After this, everything else will seem boring. You run along beautiful single track trails, past the ruins of Neideck Castle, before cruising downhill and arriving in Muggendorf. Afterwards, you cross the valley to the other side for the last section of this course. The last third will demand even more concentration and strength until you finally reach the last few and flat kilometers leading to the finish line in the market square in Ebermannstadt.
Impressions and Comments
Impressions from three years of the LOWA Ultratrail Fränkische Schweiz
"We are certain this race will find a place among the top most authentic and beloved highland race classics, on par with Lamer Winkl, etc."

"It’s an event creating a cult following, where a lot of blood, sweat and tears have been invested, and which is surely to make waves in the years to come."

"UTFS has proven with its premiere that the Alps aren't the only place to find demanding and challenging ultramarathon trails through beautiful landscapes. The race organizers laid down a strong foundation in the first year. With their fingers on the pulse of the ultra race running scene, and a lot of passion for the sport, they have secured a bright future for UTFS."
